Padangbai is a small harbour town on Bali's east coast, about an hour and a half from Kuta or Seminyak and roughly the same from Ubud. Just around the headland is the Blue Lagoon, a small bay with a shallow reef, and a little further along is Tanjung Jepun, a second reef with an artificial structure that attracts fish. Both are a short ride by traditional outrigger boat from the harbour, so the boat time is minutes, not hours.

The four-hour block covers the snorkeling itself: the boat, two reef stops with a local guide in the water, and time to rest on board between them. Expect coral, reef fish, sometimes turtles, and visibility that is best in the dry season mornings. The boat is private to your group, so you set the pace.

This suits couples and families who want to see a reef without the full-day commitment of Nusa Penida, and it fits well as a morning activity with a free afternoon. You need to be comfortable in water over your head; the guide keeps an eye on everyone, but this is open sea, not a pool. Slots are limited each day, so book at least one day ahead.
