Two activities, one day, both in the hills north of Ubud. From Kuta, Seminyak or Nusa Dua it is around ninety minutes to the ATV base; from Ubud, twenty to thirty minutes. The morning is two hours on a quad bike through mud tracks, plantations, a stream or two and stretches of rice field; the afternoon is two hours of white-water rafting on a jungle river with a professional guide steering each raft. Lunch, towels, showers and insurance are all part of the package, so you only need to bring yourself and a change of clothes.
You will get dirty. The ATV tracks are deliberately muddy, especially after rain, and you will be wet through by the end of the rafting. The rapids are moderate: fun and splashy rather than frightening, with calm sections where you can look up at the gorge. The physical demand is mostly in your arms on the ATV and in paddling on the raft; the operators run this for first-timers every day.
It suits active couples, groups of friends and families with teenagers. Minimum ages are set by the activity operators, not by Dewa, so check with him before booking for anyone under about twelve.
07:30
Around ninety minutes from Kuta, Seminyak, Canggu or Nusa Dua; much less from Ubud. Dewa confirms the exact time on WhatsApp.
09:00
Helmet, boots and a safety briefing, then a few practice laps so everyone is comfortable with the throttle and brakes before heading out.
09:30
Mud tracks, plantation trails and rice-field paths with a guide leading the group. Short photo stops along the way.
11:30
Quick shower and change, then a short drive to the river.
12:15
Life jacket, helmet and paddle, then a walk down steps to the put-in point.
12:45
Moderate rapids with calmer stretches in between, a waterfall or two on the gorge walls, and a professional guide in every raft.
15:00
Whether towels, showers and lunch at the rafting base are part of your package depends on what Dewa books for you. The walk back up from the river is the last bit of effort for the day.
16:00
Back in Kuta or Seminyak by about 17:30 depending on traffic.
