What is the minimum age for the ATV and the rafting?

The activity operators set the limits, and they differ between driving an ATV solo, riding tandem with an adult, and rafting. As a rule, teenagers can ride solo and younger children ride tandem or sit out the ATV, and the rafting usually accepts children of primary-school age with a parent. Send Dewa the ages of your group and he will confirm with the operator before you book.

Do I need to have driven an ATV before?

No. The bikes are automatic, the briefing covers throttle, brakes and body position, and you do a few laps of the practice area before the guide takes you onto the trail. Couples can ride tandem on one bike if one of you would rather not drive.

How rough is the rafting?

It is a jungle river with moderate rapids: enough to get everyone soaked and shouting, with long calm sections between. Each raft has a professional guide who steers and calls the paddling. It is run for first-timers and families every day; it is not an expert-level river.

Is lunch part of the package?

Check the booking panel or ask Dewa; when lunch is part of the operator package it is served at the rafting base, typically an Indonesian buffet with rice, chicken, vegetables and fruit. Tell Dewa if anyone is vegetarian or has allergies so he can let the operator know.

Can we do just the ATV or just the rafting?

이 투어 소개

Two activities, one day, both in the hills north of Ubud. From Kuta, Seminyak or Nusa Dua it is around ninety minutes to the ATV base; from Ubud, twenty to thirty minutes. The morning is two hours on a quad bike through mud tracks, plantations, a stream or two and stretches of rice field; the afternoon is two hours of white-water rafting on a jungle river with a professional guide steering each raft. Lunch, towels, showers and insurance are all part of the package, so you only need to bring yourself and a change of clothes.

You will get dirty. The ATV tracks are deliberately muddy, especially after rain, and you will be wet through by the end of the rafting. The rapids are moderate: fun and splashy rather than frightening, with calm sections where you can look up at the gorge. The physical demand is mostly in your arms on the ATV and in paddling on the raft; the operators run this for first-timers every day.

It suits active couples, groups of friends and families with teenagers. Minimum ages are set by the activity operators, not by Dewa, so check with him before booking for anyone under about twelve.
